BACKGROUND:

Childhood;
Asher is the eldest of Eleanor and Stafford Hardie's five children (two sisters, two brothers), his earliest years prior to leaving home being spent on the family holdings. Decently sized holdings too, his mother managing the farm, his father handling more of the business affairs being a former merchant. Asher was something of a wild boy who tended to get into trouble with the local guards and knights of the Order bringing him home plenty when he fought with the village children; tall for his age, those children were often older than him but Asher never did know how to back down from a challenge. It became an increasing issue, even on trips to neighbouring towns and villages with his father. See, the problem was that Asher favoured his grandfather's ways and not the more mainstream ways. And he got taunted. Saw red. His mother also liked to deny her heritage, tried to make Asher fit in.

Eventually it all boiled over when Asher was fifteen after he badly beat a recruit for the Order in front of many witnesses. His mother put him out of the family home telling him "there is no place for you".

And that was the end of his childhood right there, when she shut the door on him.

Mercenary;
After being kicked out, Asher wandered alone for a while because he was too ashamed to go to where his grandparents lived after what his mother said and eventually he fell in with a mercenary company because they're always looking for strapping young lads that are ready to die. Only Asher didn't die. Well he came close at one point but he made it through despite being a reckless vicious fighter and then one day on their travels they came across a place where blood sports were common and he picked up a dog from a bear baiting and dog fighting pit. Pretty much dead and a mess of scars, nursing the dog that he'd come to call Bronson back to health, Asher actually learned to care about himself.

A year later he and another member of the company left with one or two others to forge their own path. The roster change as rosters do but by the time a name was finally settled on (The Boneflayers because Asher thought that was metal as hell) they were all set, operating mainly out of a coastal region until things started getting a little too hot with political disputes. Packing the crew up, they hit the road and went for a more nomadic approach to life.

The Boneflayers were made up of: Melisende form the original outfit he'd been part of, an elven rogue and his second in command who used two blades; Liadan who was a half-elven ex-thief who'd originally hired the Boneflayers to kill people on her behalf before she joined them, an archer by trade, also the one in charge of financial arrangements, two dwarven 'brothers' (no one ever knew what brothers actually meant, if it was blood, bond or both' called Yngvi and Gunnar, Yngvi being a rogue who favoured two axes and knew everything there was to do with traps, the one who kept their inventory in good condition and Gunnar an 'alchemist' who brewed basically all sorts of weird shit and used a weapon and shield in battle, as well as trying to maintain good relations. Rounding out the crew were a former smuggler and archer, Nasir, who took charge of travel arrangements and forward scouting, and a mage, Amalia, who favoured fire but reluctantly learned how to heal. Generally her healing skills could be likened to having the health punched back into you.

The Boneflayers roamed far and wide, taking on any jobs but specialising in bounties given that they were a smaller operation compared to many of the others operating and with the amount of rogues in the party giving them a distinct advantage. It was fairly early on during their travels that Asher, in his great wisdom, got into a drinking contest with a mysterious stranger, blacked out, and woke up three days later being able to take a hell of a lot more damage in battle than he did before because sure Asher, get roofied by a wizard, almost die then get mad that you can't thank him because you're even more lethal when you fight.

Seems legit.

Asher is a man content with his life as it stands; being paid by rich people who squirm at the sight (and smell) of him to do dangerous jobs. Look, if you do what you love and love what you do then you'll never have to work a day in your life.

PERSONALITY:
What is your character like, in at least two paragraphs? What are their dreams, their fears, their motivations, their general quirks and the issues that make them who they are, and does their personality shift in any way after or before the point you are taking them from? You may link or copy/paste if you have already written this up before.

POWER:
What is/are your character’s superpower(s)? If they have abilities in their canon source, please list them here. If they do not, please create some! Every character brought into the City must have at least one power, though this may be as useful or as useless as you wish. Please indicate which abilities are canon for your character and which are not.

Additionally, each character is permitted an upper limit of three separate powers. At our discretion, we may request that you reduce, readjust, or otherwise redefine your character’s powers in order to acclimate more readily to the game setting. Characters from more Eastern-style sources are to have their powers adapted to a Western setting – for example, characters from the series “Naruto” would turn their most prominent ninjutsu into the super-powers they receive upon arriving here.

Please ensure the powers section clearly states your character's powers underneath the three umbrella system. Specifically, while one umbrella of powers may contain many smaller powers beneath it (i.e., someone with fish powers may have the ability to shoot fish out of their hands, grow gills and communicate with sea life all underneath one umbrella), these powers must be related. In addition, powers must be written out in a narrative description rather than as a video game, table top, or other stat based format. Tell us exactly what your character's powers entail using your own words, avoiding canon-specific jargon that the canonblind (us!) won't be able to understand. For example, instead of your character's fish-shooting ability doing +5 damage, describe how unpleasant it is to be slapped with a fish! Be clear as possible, and we can work with you from there!

Asher was originally a Dragon Age OC for Fade Rift, I've still got the original app and details if you need anything about what's been changed for an original verse.
